As mothers, parents, aunts, nieces, grandmas, or strangers, inevitably we will all receive a flower from someone. More true, you will receive a flower that is most definitely a weed to the world, but to you it is the most gorgeous bouquet ever.
I have had several occasions to receive such things, and truth be told, I want to keep that "weed" for as long as I can.
It represents so much more than just what it is. Tenderness. Thoughtfulness. Love. Through the years I have tried several ways to capture and keep the precious things in my life. Pressing them. Keeping them safe.
While pictures don't touch or smell, it does bring back a flood of memories. Sights, Smells. Events of that day. Most significantly how I felt when I received the gift.
How are we at receiving? Do we attempt to receive each good gift in the way it was intended to be?
I heard a quote once that went something like this:
"Never assume the message you sent will be received in the way it was intended"
Thank you M for this sweet gift that I can now take with me all my life. You have taught me to receive the good gift.
